3 Cups (divided into 2 cup+1 cup)

Cooking the Rice: Boil 2 cups water to a boil and stir the rice. Cover the pan and let the rice simmer for 20 minutes .
Pudding: Mix cooked rice, 2 cups milk, sugar and salt.
Cook on medium heat till thick and creamy.
It may take 15 to 20 minutes.
Stir in remaining 1 cup milk, beaten egg and raisins and cook for a couple of minutes more, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and stir-in Butter and Vanilla.
Chill in the refrigerator.
